What remains uniquely human when agents arrive?
More automation does not reduce the importance of people. It shifts their value toward intent, judgment, trust and the design of how work should be done.
When a tool can research, produce and execute, it seems reasonable to ask which tasks remain for people. But that question begins with an overly narrow idea of work: that our value exists only in performing steps.

Agents can take on part of the execution, but someone still has to define what a good outcome means. That person establishes intent, limits, tone, required evidence and the conditions for stopping.
Human work shifts toward framing better problems, choosing between alternatives and being accountable for the consequences.

Not every collaboration needs the same degree of autonomy. Sometimes we ask to understand; other times we explore possibilities, collaborate on a draft or delegate a complete sequence.
Recognizing the right mode prevents two mistakes: controlling every detail after the system is trustworthy, or delegating too early in a process we do not yet understand.
DESIGN THE WORK, NOT ONLY THE SOFTWARE
Sustainable adoption requires clarity around roles, training, review and error escalation. A team needs to know what to verify and where it can trust the system.
The organizations that manage this transition well will not be those that replace the most people. They will be those that free the most human attention for high-value decisions, relationships and creativity.
